On May 26, 2010, Kay Marie Sisto was murdered by her ex-husband as she was leaving to meet her father to take a walk. In 2013 in Minnesota, 37 people died in domestic violence homicides. 24 women were murdered by a current or former intimate partner. 7 men were murdered by an intimate partner. 6 friends and family members were murdered.. And 12 minor children were left without parents. Domestic violence and domestic homicide have a devastating effect on every person in our community. Each of the victims was someone's daughter, son, mother, father, sister, brother, family member, intimate partner, friend, neighbor, or co-worker. We walk every year as a pledge to remember Kay and all the women, children, men, family members, and friends who die each year from domestic violence. Our challenge to the community is to not let these deaths go unnoticed but rather to use these brutal murders as a springboard for action.
TAKE A STAND. LEAD THE WAY.
