Who can attend your trainings?
Anyone may attend our trainings who wishes to make change in their community and help end domestic violence. We have no requirements for prior training or experience. Many states, however, do have requirements for different types of practitioners (law enforcement, counselors, batterer intervention program facilitators, etc.). Check with your state to see what is required.

I’m attending a training via LiveStream. Can you help me figure out the time zone differences?
Of course! Send an email to jfluguear@theduluthmodel.org with the date of the training you’ll be attending or hoping to attend.  Or, look at this page for tips on figuring out time zones.

Do you offer trainings in my state?
Our main training facility is in Duluth, MN, where we offer several trainings a year. Click here to see our Duluth trainings. We also offer trainings across the U.S. and internationally when invited by agencies or communities. Click here to read more.

Does your training meet my state’s certification requirements?
Each state and discipline has its own requirements for certification, many of which are modeled after the Duluth Model principles we developed. Therefore, our training usually meets the standards required by each state. You can check your state’s requirements here.

Do you offer CEUs?
Some of our trainings are approved for CEUs in Minnesota, but each state has different requirements. You may turn in the training agenda and certificate we provide you to apply to your state’s approval agency. If you need an agenda in advance of a training to see if it meets your state’s requirements, please contact us at 866-417-6111.

Are your trainings OVW-approved?
Yes. All of our trainings are approved by the Office of Violence Against Women.

How much does the hotel cost for Duluth trainings?
We reserve a block of hotel rooms at the Sheraton Duluth, the price of the rooms vary on the time of the year. Each Duluth training listed on our training page includes a link to the Sheraton Duluth reservation page and the price. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the Duluth airport. The hotel is located one block from the training facility and short walk to the lakewalk.

How many people do we need to hold training in our community?
To encourage good dialogue and interaction in trainings, we prefer to train between 10 and 45 people. We prefer to have two trainers for groups of 25 or more. Click here to read more about holding trainings in your community.

How far in advance do we need to schedule a training in our community?
Typically, we find that at least 8 weeks is necessary to hold conversations about what training content is most helpful to your community and for you to do the outreach and planning necessary to have a strong training. Click here to read more about holding trainings in your community.
